Fighting for humanity Freedom – Thor Halvorssen

The New York-based Human Rights Foundation was launched in 1995 by Thor Halvorssen. The 39 years old Thor, was born to in Caracas to half Norwegian and half Venezuelan parents. He originated from mixed swashbucklers and head of states.

Oystein, his paternal grandfather, was the King Consul in Venezuela during the World war two and he sidetracked all the Norway’s commercial fleets to Venezuela ports when the Germans attacked his homestead. Thor’s mother is the first descendant from the first president of Venezuela and also the military leader who helped win Latin America independent from Spain. His family is well known to be human right advocates.

Thor Harlossen has been known to expose government corruptions and this he has adopted from his family. His father was tortured in a Caracas prison while his mother was shot dead in an anti-Hugo Chavez demonstration. His first cousin who has been a challenger of the Chavista regime is at present a Venezuelan prisoner. Thor Halvorssen has suffered as he fights for the rights of others. In the instance when he traveled together with his cameraman to Ho Chi Minh City for an interview with the patriarch of the Unified Buddhist Church of Vietnam, he was beaten and arrested. Thor’s foundation HRF has now become a signature and is widely recognized in a way that they cannot miss any human rights events.

According to Biz Journals, Thor Halvornseen Mendoza was born on 9th March 1979. Thor is a Venezuelan Human Rights Advocate and film producer. He has also been interested in public policy, public interest advocacy, individual rights and civil liberty, and pro-democracy advocacy.

For the love and the passion he has for humanity, he founded Oslo Freedom Forum which is an annual gathering and is described as the human rights festivals. Thor is also the president of the Human Rights Foundation an organization dedicated to human rights and freedom.

He is also the patron of Czech-based children peace movement On Own Feet and also the founder of Moving Pictures Institute. Thor Halvorssen graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with undergraduate and graduate degree in political science and History. Thor is a believer of not only talking about human rights but also rolling up his sleeves and getting dirty to fight for humanity.
