The Impressive Career of Yanni Hufnagel

Yanni Hufnagel was born in 1982 in Scarsdale, New York. Mr. Hufnagel’s passion for Basketball started at a young age. He began reading every book he could find, and he used figurines as visual aids to copy the plays mentioned in the books he read. As a Junior at Scarsdale High School, he started doing commentary for local basketball games, which led to his getting a position commentating on the games for the local access cable tv station. Yanni Hufnagel went on to attend Pennsylvania State University after he graduated high school and transferred to Cornell University where he obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree in Labor Relations in early 2006. While he was at Cornell University, he accepted the position of Basketball Manager, and this led to a summer internship with the New Jersey Nets. As soon as Yanni Hufnagel graduated college, he got his big break and a chance to get into coaching. One of his New Jersey Net associates put Yanni in contact with Jeff Capel in Oklahoma. Jeff Capel had been looking for a graduate assistant coach and Yanni jumped at the offer. He flew out, was interviewed, and was offered the position.

The next chapter of Yanni Hufnagel’s life began when Jeff Caple recommended him to the head coach of Harvard in 2009. As soon as he interviewed and was offered the position, Mr. Hufnagel went on the road to recruit players. Along the way, Yanni earned his Master’s Degree in Adult Higher Education, with a special emphasis on Intercollegiate Athletic Administration.

In the span of his short but brilliant career, Yanni Hufnagel has either coached or been an assistant coach at Cornell University, Harvard, Vanderbilt, and is presently working for the University of Nevada.

Yanni Hufnagel has a bright future ahead of him.
