Dr. Cameron Clokie is research scientist in the regenerative medicine field. Dr. Cameron Clokie explains that the stem cell regeneration is different from how people understand the procedure. Most people believe that cells are merely transferred and patched on a wound. However, the reality is, the regenerative process requires cell, molecules, and biomaterials to heal an injury. Despite the numerous journals published regarding the field and breakthroughs made, there have been very few drugs developed.

The first breakthrough in the regenerative medicine was blood transfusion followed by the bone marrow transplant which provided hope to people who have blood cancer. Mainly the bone marrow transplant utilized the stem cells from the bone marrow donor. Recent, the technology has been used to regenerate burned cells. Cell therapy, also known as skin grafting uses the cells from a patient except that they are from another part of the body which is unharmed. Despite all the developments in the field, there is a rising concern because the medicine has not been made accessible in all areas of medicine. A report has indicated that the field of regenerative medicine has the potential to grow and help in preventing diseases such as heart disease, stroke, and other conditions. With more growth in the field, there is a likelihood of increased life expectancy and improve the health conditions.

Scientists are working on curing various diseases or containing them based on the technology. The past few years have seen a lot of improvement particularly with the introduction of chips to the field. The chips are used to adapt to the functions of various organs and hence help to heal injured organs. The technology is applicable in procedures that have saved multiple lives through cell therapy. Although the technology has much potential in future the only set back is the high cost of the methods.

Dr. Cameron an entrepreneur and a scientist with massive experience in maxillofacial and oral surgeon believe that regenerative has a lot of benefits to offer. Dr. Cameron has served as the head of oral and maxillofacial surgery at the University of Toronto. He has various publications on bone regenerative medicine and bone reconstruction. He is a holder of multiple patents regarding bone regeneration and medicine. Cameron has his firm that deals with regenerative medicine and skeletal reconstruction.
